From June to the End of July 2025, the Grand Palais invites the Public to discover "Our Boat, Drummer Earth" by Brazilian Artist Ernesto Neto, a Monumental Installation composed of Hand-Woven Crochet, Bark, Earth, Spices, and Percussion Instruments....

From June to the End of July 2025, the Grand Palais invites the Public to discover "Our Boat, Drummer Earth" by Brazilian Artist Ernesto Neto, a Monumental Installation composed of Hand-Woven Crochet, Bark, Earth, Spices, and Percussion Instruments.
Designed to be Walked Through and Inhabited, this Multi-Sensory Environment manifests a Fundamental Relationship with Nature and explores the Continuity between our Own Bodies and the Body of the Earth through Handcrafting, Organic Materials, and Ancestral Techniques. The Work is inspired by the Profound Impact of Sailing and Seafaring on the World, which has altered Relationships between People and Places.

Ernesto Neto transforms the Images and Symbols associated with these Stories into a Collective and Ritual Communion with his Porous Architecture. The Sculpture incorporates a Wide Range of Instruments from Around the World, with Periodic Activations during which the Public is invited to enter and play the Drums Hidden Within. By uniting our Cultural Differences, the Artist poetically evokes the Possibility of Universal Communication through Pulses and Rhythms.
The Public is invited to occupy the Space around the Work, through Various Activities: Concerts, Workshops, and "Chats," where Adults and Children will discover the Richness of the Themes that inspire the Artist in his Work (Music, Fabrics, Brazilian History, Climate Issues, etc.). A café, obviously Brazilian, provides Refreshments and Refreshments.

The Nosso Barco Tambor Terra Installation will take place in the Center of Paris in the Summer of 2025 where Visitors can come to Marvel, Dance, Listen, Reconnect, Learn, and Dream, Freely or Accompanied by Facilitators and Artists who will guide the Public through this Journey.
Public Opening Concert on June 8 at 6 p.m.

Percussion from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe to interact with the Monumental Interactive Installation "Nosso Barco Tambor Terra" (Our Boat Drum Earth) by Brazilian Artist Ernesto Neto.

A Dozen Percussionists play the Work's Instruments and take the Public on a Journey through a Unique Creation exploring Different Sounds, Nuances, Dynamics, Polyrhythms, and Timbres. Thus, the Work, the Music, and the Public will become one in the Nave of the Grand Palais.

He was born in 1964 in Rio de Janeiro, where he lives and works. His Work focuses on Relationships, whether between Materials, Forces, or Beings. Gravity and Balance appear as Mediating Elements in this Relationship, challenging and expanding the Vocabulary of Sculpture.

Considering the Legacy of Avant-Garde Movements such as Neo-Concrete, Minimalism, and Arte Povera, he considers the Body as a Fundamental Political Issue in his Poetics, so that his Sculptures evoke Living Organisms and activate Multiple Senses in the Viewer's Body.

In Recent Years, Ernesto Neto has turned to Natural Materials, such as Cotton, Wood, and Leaves, and invites us to enter Meditative States and reconnect the Cultural Body with the Spirituality of Life.
His Recent Solo Exhibitions include Blow (Centro Cultural La Moneda, Santiago, Chile, 2020; Pinacoteca de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, 2019; MALBA - Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2019);

CalaMotherTree (Zürich Hauptbahnhof, Fondation Beyeler Zurich, Switzerland, 2018), Boa (Klasma - Finnis National Gallery, Helsinki, Finland, 2016): Rul Nu Voices of the Forest (Kunsten Museum of Modern Art, Aalborg, Denmark, 2016), Ernesto Neto and the Huni Kuin: Aru Kuxipa / Sacred Secret (TBA21 Vienna, Austria, 2015), The Body That Carries Me (Guggenheim Bilbao, Bilbao, Spain, 2014), Haux Haux (Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck, Remagen, Germany, 2014).
